my thoughts & learnings after EACH youtube video

SUBMIT YOUR PHOTO, I DRAW YOU & ADD IT TO JEFF WORLD. INTERACTIVE ARTWORK

23/7/2024

I was really excited to bring this video and artwork to life. I have been spending a lot of time developing my portrait skills and I’m sooo happy with how comfortable I am now drawing them. I feel like Jeff World will definitely be a way for me to keep on top of my skills but also be able to look back at the way I have grown and how my style evolves.

I also love that I could use this Jeff World concept for future client projects too. As a way to create an artwork for a client that is build up over a multi-day event or festival. Or even lead me closer to a VR version. Which would be so fun to do.

MY 4 STEP STRATEGY FOR CREATING A PLAN WHEN FEELING OVERWHELMED. CREATIVE THINKING. PART 3/3

3/7/2024

My brain was ticking at full speed and the ideas were flowing big time after making the curtains.
I was starting to feel overwhelmed.

So I though it was the perfect time to use my BECC Method to create a plan of attack and work out what to focus on next.

I created my BECC Method a while back and it has 4 steps. Brainstorm, Excitement, Categorise & Choose.
This method has been a game changer for me because it helps me feel more calm and in control.

So for this video it was a perfect time to share it as I sort through all my ideas around my Cardboard Curtains.
And when it comes to the results. I was able to came up with some great progress.

By the end of the video I had tested ideas, makes some samples and created a plan for new wearable clothing and
potential concepts for client work that I could pitch in the future.

This whole 3 part video process has been a great learning for me.

It’s helped me see some major benefits of focusing on long form content/documenting my work at all stages. And giving myself the
time at each stage of the process to really flesh it out, (I was originally going to try and squish every into 1 video. :S)

MAKING LARGE HANGING ARTWORKS FROM CARDBOARD CLOTHES. UPCYCLING & REPURPOSING OLD PROJECTS. PART 2/3

13/6/2024

This was so fun! Time consuming but fun! I turned my Cardboard Clothes into a Cardboard Curtains and I loooove the final result.

I definitely had some speed bumps in the process. But I’m so glad I did it.

This video is more of a vlog style where I take you through each step and chat out my thoughts. These kind of videos are really fun to make because it gives people a ‘behind the curtain’ look at my process. Which if I’m honest, is what people usually ask me about most.

I won’t lie, I’m still getting use to the idea of setting up cameras and working out the best way to film while not let it dictate or take over my workflow. But I can see the benefit of documenting and I can see myself getting better at set up each time I do it.

This nude illusion adjacent cardboard construction technique I do to the curtains has so many opportunities for me to create variations for different styles of work.

And in part 3 that is what I explore. What to do next this this idea.

WEARABLE ART PHOTOSHOOTS & MUSICIAN COLLABORATIONS. USING OLD PROJECTS TO CREATE NEW ARTWORKS. PART 1/3

20/5/2024

I had been feeling like I was in a bit of a creative funk. So I decided to go through my Cardboard Clothing pieces that I was storing in my studio and see if I could rework them to I come up with new idea.

It turns out this process of really nourishing for me.

I got to look back and appreciating what I had created. I felling back in love with most of the pieces and getting to share the stories behind the process of making them was nice too. I can often feel the pressure to just keep pushing forward and look to the next project or idea. Not giving myself time to stop and reflect on what we have achieved.

This process has been a great reminder that I should make more time to revisit and reflect on older ideas/projects.
And see what 2024 Jeff could do with the same idea.

By the end of this video I realised that documenting my work can really remove the preciousness I attach to it. I tend to store/hoard, a lot of work. But once I had documented it it allowed me to get pretty excited to repurpose the clothing pieces, aka cut them up.

I understood that if I wanted to revisit the original work I could use the photos and videos.

The next stage of this project is to create the new work, which comes in Part 2.
