COMMUNITY CO-DESIGNED PUBLIC ART projects
The project could result in (but is not limited to) a mural, printed vinyl for glass or surfaces & sculptural installations.
Communities could be focused around youth, social groups, schools, all ages, emerging artists etc.
My community co-designed projects have on average engaged between 20-40 people per project.
With many people being involved at multiple stages of the process. For example, Someone doing a workshop & returning
to help paint the mural.
The end-to-end delivery process is as followed:
1. Confirm the Brief
Who, What, Where, When & Why
2. Create Project Outline
Deliverables, timeline/milestones, project management strategy, marketing & outcomes
3. Community Engagement Programming
This can include running creative workshops, consultation sessions, mentoring, outreach & presentations/talks
4. Community Consultation
Opportunity for any feedback before the final execution
5. Artwork Delivery
The final artwork is complete. ie: Mural painted, print files delivered to printers etc.
6. Launch
The community is invited to the launch of the project & documentation
PROGRAMMING OPTIONS:
We could use the project to engage and support specific communities. With the project culminating in a launch at a specific event. For example, a queer community collaboration during Pride Month or a young emerging artists focus during Youth Week.
The project could be used as a way to create public outcomes over a 12 month period.
I can incorporate mentoring opportunities in the project. Having local artists assist from end-to-end on the project to gain professional experience and insight into public art delivery. With the aim to build their confidence towards a future council EOI application.
