HEAPS GAY
KARAOKE CLOSET
NEWTOWN FESTIVAL, 2018
CAMPERDOWN PARK, NEWTOWN
Heaps Gay created an open forum karaoke event at the Newtown Festival.
The design brief was to create decorations that could be hung from the trees but not damage them. The decorations had to be bight, colour and attract festival goers. They also have to help create a parameter for the space.
Assets
120m of bunting made from table clothes. (The bunting was repurposed for multiple events)
Soft sculpture shapes hung from trees
Cardboard fruit artworks hung from the trees
ACTIVATION
HEAPS GAY STREET PARTY, 2018
MARRICKVILLE
Heaps Gay hosted a street party and needed artworks to help transform the street into a party atmosphere.
I created a fruit media wall style activation. The fruits are hand painted on repurposed cardboard and attached to runs of astroturf. Playing off the colloquial queer term “fruity”.
