Metro Patchwork, 2021|
Marrickville Metro, Sydney

I was asked to design fabric for furniture that would be used in the newly renovated Smidmore Street upgrade of the Marrickville Metro shopping centre.

The brief was to create a pattern that was fun, colourful and took inspiration from the Marrickville community.

I came up with Metro Patchwork. A mosaic grid design that was made up of a series of 15 tiles that represented the community. The tiles represent individuality, self expression, community, inclusion and energy. The fabric was produced in two colour ways.

I was then asked to use the Metro Patchwork design as inspiration for the painting of 5 timber plinths that were to be installed in the centre as multiple purpose propping and seating. The boxes are all hand painted.
