QUESTACON
WEAR IT PURPLE DAY
NGUNNAWAL LAND, CANBERRA
2024
I was asked to deliver a series of workshops as part of Wear it Purple Day at Questacon.
My Pride themes brooch workshop was the perfect fit for this project. I began each workshop with a short artist talk explaining my practice, showing examples of my work and chatting about how my I explore and celebrate my queer identity through my art.
Participants then got to make their own brooch that they could then wear on Wear It Purple Day or display in the office.
Three workshops were for their internal team and delivered over 3 days at two office locations in the lead up to Wear It Purple Day. Giving the Questacon staff more of a chance to participate and make brooches that the could then wear on the day.
This also allowed Questacon to create a week long program around Wear It Purple Day which resulted in my involvement in a LGBTQIA+ panel chat.
The final workshop for the project was a public one. Delivered in a ‘come-and-go’ style on Wear It Purple Day.
